Trauma can be very misunderstood. Surprisingly enough, trauma doesn't have to be BIG for the body to feel it as a trauma. Small traumas build up over time and cause the same PTSD symptoms of attention deficits, anxiety, depression, cognitive and sensory processing disorders. Trauma can also be a culprit for increased somatic symptoms like illness, pain, and autoimmune disorders. Trauma forces our body's to take action and protect us AUTOMATICALLY.

I believe we all do the best we can, at the time, with the skills we have at that time but can always learn more. This is where Somatic Focused Therapies can help. By using unique tools to stimulate the autonomic nervous system, we can reboot the system, process "stuck" trauma and be free of the automatic responses that are getting in the way of enjoying the life we all deserve! ALL WITHOUT HAVING TO REHASH EVERY GORY DETAIL OF YOUR PAST!! The result is improved emotion regulation, more energy, improved connection with others, higher cognitive functioning, INCREASED PRODUCTIVITY and better overall health.

The main Somatic, Whole Brain and Body strategies used at Hargrove Counseling include:

Safe and Sound Protocol

Psychoeducation - Polyvagal Theory

Cognifit - neurofeedback cognitive training

Interactive, Biofeedback Meditation

We also offer traditional therapies including Solution focused, CBT, Play and DBT.
